Role of the Evangelist…

The Evangelist (2 Tim. 4:5), also referred to as a minister (Col. 1:6-7), functions as a man of God (2 Timothy. 3:16-17) within the local congregation in which he leads the congregation through the proclamation of the word of God. He administratively functions as one who “set things in order” (Titus 1:5), ensuring that the congregation does not lack what it needs to function according to God’s divine blueprint. Additionally, he trains and appoints leaders for the task of managing the people of God, through imparting sound doctrine (Titus 1:9) and the biblical characteristics of leadership.

The ministering evangelist must not view himself as the CEO of the congregation, but as God’s mouthpiece that leads the church in the direction God has already predestined.

Elders to Oversee…

The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that be revealed; Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

I Peter 5:1-3

Deacons to Serve…

Therefore brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.
