Ministries: Prison Outreach and New Members
The best decision I ever made was to allow my mother, the late Sis. Ossie M. Porter, to expose me to God’s plan of salvation and to teach me the importance of obeying His precepts.
What she taught was further corroborated by the renowned Bro. John H. Clay at a tent meeting which I attended in Panama City, Florida. I was amazed by the similarities of what she taught and the message he delivered regarding God’s plan of salvation. My heart was pricked and I was compelled to obey. She planted the seed and he watered it, but God gave the increase (1 Corinthians 3: 6). My Christian journey then began at the Glenwood Church of Christ.
During my extensive travels across the country and abroad, I made a deliberate effort to cultivate and maintain a relationship with God. As a result, He guided me through many challenges and perils of life. Therefore, I was determined to walk in His word and trust and obey Him wherever my travels carried me even from the sunny land of Florida to the far away country of Turkey.
I share in Peter’s conviction that Christians should always be ready to teach, ready to defend the faith, and poised to spread the word of God when the opportunity presents itself (I Peter 3:15).
I am not seeking fame or notoriety. Instead, I want to be a servant who pleases God. I vow to always be submissive to His word and will. I will continuously ask Him to give me the discerning wisdom that He gave Solomon as well as a servant’s heart that will help me serve His sheep, differentiate between good and evil, defend the faith, protect the flock and guide with a loving hand based on biblical principles (1 Kings 3: 7-12). Because I accepted the charge as one of the shepherds at West End Church of Christ, I am now obligated and committed to look out for the souls of God’s sheep (Hebrews 13:17).
If we do as God has commanded, I believe that He will receive the honor and glory that He so richly deserves and welcome us home on that glorious day.
The steps of a good man is ordered by the Lord and He delighteth in his way………..Psalm 37:23
